Rambutan - Red

This tropical tree typically reaches heights of 12 to 20 meters. Its red, leathery skin, adorned with soft, fleshy spines, gives it a somewhat hairy appearance. The flesh, which is translucent and either white or pale pink, features a sweet, mildly acidic flavor. Although its soft seeds are toxic when raw, they become edible once cooked. Due to their sensitivity to cold temperatures, rambutan trees thrive exclusively in tropical climates, making them well-suited for cultivation in regions like tropical Queensland.
